This course is compulsory in order to be appointed as a Guider. Trainees coming to the BasicTraining Course must be 17 years of age; have completed the Confidential Volunteer Application Form and received the recommendation of her Guider and Unit Leader/Area/District Commissioner. This course covers the basics needs of a Guider in running a Company.

Some of the topics include:-

• Child Protection
• Programme Planning
• Hike/Activity Planning
• Registration
• Uniforms

Each Guider is required to meet with Guider Training stipulations as laid down in the Diocesan/Regional Bye Laws.
