

Volunteers working within Catholic Guides of Ireland undertake compulsary training to ensure they are competent to provide a safe environment for young people to develop their skills and abilities.
All Guiders will be obliged to undertake Child Protection Training as part of Recruitment
Procedure and such training should be updated and renewed as required.

Diocesan/Regional Courses for PL and APL's
Ensures volunteers have the skills and resources to run a challenging, varied and fun programme of activities for the young people in their Unit. This training also provides an insight into the Guiding methodology.
Volunteers complete recognised basic first aid training provided by organisations such as Red Cross, Order of Malta etc.
Provides volunteers with the skills to run quality camps and residentials for young people. Involves two weekends and follow-up assessment.
A follow-up to the CGI Basic course, a personal development course allowing volunteers develop their communication and leadership skills.
This course is completed by volunteers within CGI who wish to be trainers, or members of training teams.
A follow-up to the CGI Intermediate course, allowing experienced Guiders to devlop the skills needed when volunteering with CGI at a committee level.
Designed for individuals who have responsibility for co-ordinating Cygnet, Brigin, Guide and Ranger companies under the Unit structure.
