What is the Chief Commissioner Award?

This award takes place on an annual basis. It is project and activity based and upon registration the girls have a set timeframe to complete the challenge. Various challenges in the award change from year to year.

How much does it cost?
€10 per Guide 

Timetable

  • Register for the Award and receive a folder with challenges to complete, closing date for applications for 2020 is Friday 10th January 2020. No late applications will be taken. 
  • The Guides then submit their project folder with required challenges completed by the projects closing date.
  • Interviews are held for candidates who have submitted projects to the required standard.
  • An Award Ceremony for successful candidates takes place.

Are there any Requirements?

To participate in the Chief Commissioner Award 2020, a Guide must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Be 12 years of age or over on the closing date for applications - Friday 10th January 2020.
  • Have completed at least the Bronze Section of "Count Me In".

Challenges

There are five compulsory elements:

  • Attend at least 85% of all company activities and one Regional or National Event
  • Uniform must be of a high standard.
  • Outdoor Skills including Outdoor Camp
  • Hike
  • Chief Commissioner Challenge, this changes each year.

There are also ten other optional challenges of which the Guide must complete five. Each Guide is to carry out the challenges to the best of her ability and they are also signed by her Guider. These challenges are reviewed and updated annually, so please be sure to use the correct folder upon application.

Interviews

The best of the project entries will go forward to the interview stage and the best of those interviewed will receive the Chief Commissioner Award.

Not all candidates submitting a folder may be called for interview and not all interviewees may be successful in achieving the award. 

The Award

The Chief Commissioner Award is presented to successful candidates at a ceremony in January.

There are three levels awarded; bronze, silver and gold.

Certificates will also be given to all participants.

How do I Apply?

To apply for the 2020 Award, please send €10 per Guide along with the completed application form, available on OGM, to the National Office by 10th of January 2020.
